| An Apollo–Soyuz cover commemorating U.S. President Richard M. Nixon and Soviet Premier Aleksei N. Kosygin signed an agreement on space cooperation, postmarked at Houston, Texas, with a hand cancel on May 24, 1972.
One part of the agreement proposed creating a docking system that would allow their spacecraft to connect in orbit. This later led to the Apollo–Soyuz Test Project, the first international human spaceflight in July 1975. |
