The Space Race was a technological competition between the United States and the Soviet Union in demonstrating superiority in aerospace capabilities, including artificial satellites launches, robotic space probes to the Moon, Venus, and Mars, and human spaceflight in low Earth orbit and ultimately landing on the Moon. RAM C project launch cover postmarked at Wallops Island on September 30, 1970. The RAM C-3 flight was to study the problem of radio frequency blackout at an entry velocity of 7.407 km/sec (24 300 ft/sec).
