The Scout Reentry 4B was a NASA suborbital reentry-vehicle test conducted as part of the agency’s efforts to develop reliable reentry vehicles and thermal-protection systems. The research helped advance understanding of the extreme heating encountered during atmospheric reentry, technology that was essential for spacecraft such as the Apollo Command Module, which would later return astronauts safely from the Moon.
