| Titan II Missile N-4 was launched from Cape Canaveral LC-16 on July, 25, 1962. The flight went entirely according to plan up to first stage burn, but the second stage malfunctioned again when the hydraulic pump failed and thrust dropped nearly 50%. Above cover postmarked at PAFB on the day of launch on July 25, 1962. The engine ran for an additional 111 seconds until the propellant depleted. Impact occurred 1500 miles (2400 km) downrange, which was half the planned distance. |
